Keith A. Bailey, Ph.D., has worked with children and youth in a variety of settings for over 20 years (including two years in Scotland). For 15 years, he worked with youth in residential treatment, day treatment, and foster care, in both direct care and administrative positions. He has served as a consultant with the University of Tennessee’s College of Social Work – Office of Research and Public Service in the area of training and curriculum development and serves as an Adjunct Faculty member in Tusculum College’s Psychology Department. He also is a father of two children, a daughter and a son.
Dr. Bailey has been an invited speaker and workshop leader at state and national conferences in both the US and Canada and has provided consultation services for a variety of agencies across the US and in Canada. He has been a trainer and consultant on behalf of the Child Welfare League of America and the National Technical Assistance Center (of the National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors). In addition, he is a Professionally Certified Trainer for Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) through Cornell University and serves as an Instructor and Consultant for Safeguards, a training and consulting agency based in Toronto that provides services to the Province of Ontario. He brings years of practical experience, a strong academic background, and a personable style to the service he provides.
Dr. Bailey provides training and consultation in a variety of areas (see list of training and consultation topics). However, he has provided the most service in the areas of Positive Behavioral Support, Physical Restraint and Seclusion Reduction and Changing the Culture of Care and Treatment by Developing a Relational Approach to Care and Treatment.
Dr. Bailey will develop training and consultation packages to meet the needs of an individual agency, school, or conference event and give a free initial consultation in order for the agency or school to assess whether his experience and services are a good fit for them. He also partners with a variety of associates whom he can call upon to provide professional assistance in various fields of expertise, including: clinical issues; education in-service training and professional development; social service management strategies; policy and procedure development; case reviews; and, cultural competency.
